pm-CAL Pay & Harmonization Process

Date: January 30, 2018
Type: AFA Article

We have received questions about how pm-CAL Flight Attendants will be paid on their February 1st Paycheck.  The harmonization process does not begin until the February 16th pay period where the 25 hour semi will not be issued.  Your February 1st paycheck (or advance) is an advance on your January flying according to the previous pm-CAL pay methodology.  On February 16th, you will be paid the remainder of your January pay plus expenses. The new pay methodology will be fully implemented on March 1, 2018.

To calculate your paychecks starting with the March 1st paycheck and going forward:

Your 1st Paycheck will consist of:

  • Advance of your prior month’s pay - calculated on a percentage of base monthly pay based on the following calculated using projected hours as of the 20th of the month:
    • 50 hours or more - 70% of 71 hours = 49.70 hours
    • 30 hours to 49:59 hours - 35% of 71 hours = 24.85 hours
    • less than 30 hours - no advance

Your 16th Paycheck will consist of:

  • Total earnings for the prior month, less the advance from 1st of the month paycheck
  • Per Diem
  • Premiums
  • Add Pay
  • And any other adjustments
