Second Round Early Out Release Dates Announced

Date: November 21, 2014
Type: AFA Article

Today United announced the second round of release dates for those who were awarded positions in the Enhanced Early Out Bid.

Last week, the company announced the first round of EEOP releases, effective November 30, 2014 which included:

  • All pre-merger CMI Flight Attendants
  • All pre-merger United Flight Attendants on Voluntary Furlough (NV) status.

In that same announcement, management indicated that additional releases would be assigned in December and January.  Today's announcement addresses the December 30, 2014 exit date assigned to the following:

Domicile Number Senior Junior
DEN 129 9/29/1965 7/30/1999
FRA 9 1/16/1987 3/5/1998
LAX 101 7/18/1963 4/17/1999
NRT 15 2/4/1969 8/16/1997
ORD 208 TBA* TBA*

*A preferencing process will be established to allow Flight Attendants from ORD the opportunity to bid for either a December or January exit date.  Once that process is completed, the breakdown information will be available.  Additional information was sent to the corporate e-mail account of those ORD Flight Attendants awarded a position in the EEOP.

Another critical piece of information contained in the company's announcement includes the deadline to purchase travel.  Flight Attendants assigned a December 30, 2014 exit date must elect to purchase travel by 12:00N (CST) on December 1, 2014.  Consistent with the EEOP Plan Document, travel may be purchased in increments of 5, 10 or 15 years at a cost of $5,000 per five-year increment.  This cost will be deducted from the Early Out payment.  For those purchasing travel to age into retiree travel it is important to remember that your years of service are frozen as of your assigned exit date.  Those purchasing travel will need to purchase sufficient travel to reach the age and years of service requirements set forth in the plan document.  This is your one and only opportunity to purchase extended travel.  There will be no future opportunity after the December 1, 2014 12:00N (CST) deadline.

We realize there may be a number of questions resulting from today's announcement.  We encourage everyone to avoid rumor and speculation and ask that you refer to official company and Union publications for the answers to any questions you may have.
