Annual Benefits Open Enrollment Hits a Snag

Date: November 2, 2021
Type: AFA Article

As we know, United Annual Benefits Open Enrollment for active employees opened yesterday and will run through November 19, 2021.

While today is only day two of what will be a full three-week period for open enrollment, there have been some issues that have slowed the rollout of this annual process and have generated a number of questions from many of you.

There are two issues:

  • Sporadic outages/technical issues affecting the open enrollment platform, and
  • Issues with the provider search (“Find a doctor” function on YBR.  That is, when Members are searching to determine if their provider is part of a specific network, the system is responding with an invalid or incorrect response.

United management has been collaborating with our vendors to address the technical issues on the enrollment platform and believes those issues have been corrected.  Monitoring of the site continues.

As it pertains to the provider search (“Find a doctor”) function, that may take a bit longer.  However, in the interim, Accolade has a separate, independent provider search function and will be able to assist in providing information about the network affiliation of health care providers.  You should not hesitate to reach out to Accolade for assistance if the need is pressing.

We have secured the following from the company:   Management is committed to enrolling all employees with correct information while providing an opportunity for everyone to make their elections.   Management is prepared to do what is necessary to get this done and has been working with their vendor to ensure the opportunity is available to all employees.

Please be assured AFA is working to get these issues resolved and to ensure accurate information is available to our members in support of the Benefits we have negotiated.

We appreciate your continued patience as management works to resolve these unanticipated issues.
