In an attempt to reassure the public United recently initiated seating considerations onboard all scheduled United and United Express flights. A temporary seating policy was implemented on April 28, 2020 through May 31, 2020 (subject to change), as a social distancing preventative safety strategy.

More recently and in response to certain instances where flights have been full, Unitedhas announced additional changes to its social distancing procedures. Starting next week, United will contact flyers if their flight is 70% full allowing them to change flights to one that is less full.  In addition, procedures will be implemented at the gate to allow for a similar change on the day of departure.   While almost 85% of daily flights are currently less than half full, these new procedures will be put into place during this time and in an effort to build confidence that all efforts to ensure the safe carriage of passengers and crew. We anticipate additional information to be forthcoming later this week.
