Upcoming AFA Board of Directors Meeting

The 45th Annual AFA Board of Directors (BOD) Meeting this year will be held June 24, 2017 at the Sheraton Grande Phoenix, 340 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ. Differing slightly from other BOD meetings, this year the Board is tasked only with approving the annual AFA budget at this meeting.  This decision was made during last year’s annual BOD meeting to focus the Board’s attention exclusively on the annual budget as a means of controlling costs. This action alone saved more than $200,000 in Member dues. 

There will also be a one-day MEC meeting that will be held in Phoenix following the BOD Meeting on Sunday, June 25th to approve the United MEC budget for the 2017 -2018 fiscal year.  Our AFA Constitution and Bylaws establishes a requirement for a minimum of two Local Council meetings each year with one of these meetings scheduled to occur prior to the traditional Board of Directors meeting. Our Spring Regular MEC Meeting was held in April and the Constitutional requirement to have a Local Meeting before the BOD meeting was satisfied by many Local Councils who had these meetings in April of this year. For this reason, you may see a change from the more traditional practice of having a Local Council meeting before the BOD meeting.
