United Discontinues Temporary Flight Attendant Meal Credit

Date: May 13, 2020
Type: AFA Article

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us in so many ways, not only in our local communities but also in the communities where our layovers are scheduled.   Some of these areas have been more heavily impacted than other in some cases making it difficult for Flight Attendants to obtain food at other than the crew hotel. In United’s ongoing effort to support crews on layover, a temporary meal credit of $120 has been made available at certain crew hotels.

As restrictions to accessing food locally begin to ease in those locations where the temporary food credit was implemented, effective May 15, 2020, the temporary $120 food credit will be discontinued.

United and your MEC Hotel & Transportation Committee will continue to monitor the availability of food at layover locations in order to ensure the availability of a wide offering of healthy, cost effective options.  Most crew hotels offer a discount, some up to 20%, with your United crew badge.  We encourage you to always ask for the crew discount by showing your crew badge.
