Bidding Reminder: DOA!

Don’t forget to SAVE THE DATE! Primary schedule bidding for the month of April is now open. As you make your selections don't forget to bid around our April 11th Day of Action!

Our system-wide Day of Action will carry our solidarity across the globe and provide over 14 opportunities at bases and satellite bases to join our informational picket line in support of our future.

You do not need to be off that day to attend. Landing from a trip, Join Us! Departing that day, come in a little early and Join Us! Friends, family, bring them ALL. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Mark your calendars, press your uniforms, pop on your RED AFA pin, and we will see you there!

MEC Grievance Training

Last week, the United MEC Grievance Committee hosted their annual training in Rosemont, IL.

The two-day training was broken into an initial training session for advocates as an introduction to the grievance process and Member representation. Day two focused on advanced training developed for Grievance Representatives currently serving on their Local Committees to further enhance their skill sets and an opportunity to collaborate in person with the MEC Grievance Committee.

Attendees received guidance in both discipline and contract grievances and how the committee serves the Members at the Local Councils. Participants also had the opportunity to work with our AFA Legal team and gain further insight into the process while debunking misinformation about the representation process.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all the advocates who took time away from their lives to join this committee in service of their fellow Flight Attendants. If you are interested in getting involved and serving on a Local Council Committee, please reach out to your Local Council leadership.

MEC Spring 2024 Meeting

We are pleased to announce that the Spring Regular Meeting of the Master Executive Council will be held in Chicago, IL. Beginning on Thursday, April 16, 2024, this three-day meeting will serve as an opportunity for the MEC body to conduct the business of our Union and collaborate on ways to address Member concerns and issues from across the system.

During the meeting, the MEC body will receive reports from the MEC Employee Assistance Program/Professional Standards Committee and the MEC Grievance Committee, as well as updates related to Contract Negotiations. 

We invite all Members in good standing to attend and participate in the democracy of our Union. Complimentary shuttle transportation will be provided between the Hyatt Rosemont and Chicago O’hare Airport every 30 minutes.

Hustle Campaign - Phase Two

On November 30th, we launched our Hustle peer-to-peer texting campaign. Our AFA volunteers started reaching out to confirm Flight Attendants' contact information with our Union. This campaign has been ongoing to keep Flight Attendants up-to-date with timely, accurate information. 

On March 18, 2024, we will start the second phase of the Hustle Campaign. If you were previously contacted but did not respond to the original rollout of our Campaign, you may be receiving a text message from a fellow United AFA flying partner.

These AFA volunteers will follow up to confirm your contact information. It is very important that you respond with these details. Our goal is to keep members informed and fully prepared during these Contract Negotiations. With this information, we stand together in solidarity and will be ready to do whatever it takes to get the Contract we deserve!
