Using Gloves

For some time now, the company has approved the use of gloves, in economy only, for picking up trays and trash.  Gloves may also be used throughout the airplane for tidying lavatories and when addressing medical emergencies. However, if you are in any situation on the airplane where you feel the use of gloves is necessary to protect your safety, use them.

Once complete, use the method of glove removal recommended by the CDC for removing personal protective equipment.  A reference guide highlighting the removal process is available on our website.  As often as possible, remove the gloves before entering the galley. Do not keep the gloves on any longer than it takes to perform these functions. It’s counterproductive to continue wearing the same gloves; there is an increased risk of transferring whatever you might have come in contact with to other areas of the airplane as well as to other onboard equipment.  After disposing the gloves, thoroughly wash your hands. NEVER make the assumption that wearing gloves precludes you from following normal sanitary procedures.

Follow this simple rule for gloves: use, remove and discard.
