Flight Attendants must accept the award in CCS before the acceptance deadline in order for the transfer to be effective

As a reminder, under the provisions of Section 17 of our Contract, that once awarded a transfer you must accept such transfer within seven (7) days of the award date in order to secure your transfer.  Keep in mind, that a non-response (failure to accept) will be considered to be the same as declining the transfer.

When a Flight Attendant declines an awarded transfer, she/he will be inhibited from any further transfers for a period of three (3) months. There are incidents where Flight Attendants not intending to transfer, are placing a transfer request on file out of curiosity to see where they fall on the list for award purposes and subsequently forget to withdraw the transfer request. A consequence of this is being awarded a transfer, it being declined, and being restricted from transfer for a period of three months.

If a Flight Attendant accepts a transfer award, she/he will be restricted from further transfer for a period of six (6) months.

For more information, please contact your AFA Local Council.

Central Schedule Committee Training

Last week, our flying partners from EWR, ORD, DEN, LHR, SFO, LAX, IAD, IAH, GUM successfully completed three days of training conducted by our MEC Central Schedule Committee.

AFA Representatives reviewed the history of our Union in the development of schedules and principles of line construction.  Training included a review of those Sections of our Contract that relate to the submission of recommendations for our monthly flying schedules.

We congratulate and thank our flying partners who stepped forward to do this important work on behalf of all Flight Attendants, and we should thank them for renewing their commitment as advocates for all Members.

A321 NX Training Bidding

The revised bidding timeline for CQ as a result of the A321 NX Training is as follows:

July 2022 Reserve Timeline

If you are on Reserve status for the July bid month, there are a number of scheduling request deadlines and processes that occur during the period between the release of bid awards and through the first week of the new month.

Some of these events occur on the same calendar days each month, while others are based on the date when the new Flight Attendant bid month begins which varies monthly. We have made available a Reserve bid month timeline detailing these items in both a visual calendar as well as list format.

Welcome Class 2215!

We are excited to welcome our newest flying partners from class 2215 as part of our Flight Attendant community. Our newest flying partners will begin their careers at bases in DEN, EWR, IAD, IAH, LAX, and ORD.

We encourage you to welcome each of them amiably, help them learn from your experience, and get them started on a path to success and adventure in their new career.

Please remember that our newest Members are on probation. To ensure that they receive the most accurate information to support them, direct them to their Local Council for assistance on Contractual issues.

And if you would like to become an AFA Buddy, reach out to your Local Council to learn how you can become part of this vital link to their success.

Reports on United’s Safety Management System

In United’s ongoing effort to manage the storage of data, with the exception of those reports that must be retained per the FAA guidance, storage of all individual Flight Attendant reports will change as of July 1, 2022.  ISAP reports will be accessible the later of 90 days after submission or 30 days post report closure while IOR and FAFR reports will continue to be accessible for 3 years.

Report narratives used for event tracking and trending will be deidentified and ultimately housed in an alternate data storage location.  Reporters will not be identified.  For these reasons, we encourage Flight Attendants to save or print (using the pdf function) their filed reports for future reference.  Use a personal data storage location such a thumb drive or personal computer to access these reports at a future date.

For more information, please contact your domicile supervisor.

Reminders:

JUN 23 – A321 NX Training Bidding Closes at 1200 CST
