We are continuing to monitor the situation in
Japan. AFA remains in contact with the
FAA Command Center, the National Nuclear Security Administration, the National
Atmospheric Release Advisory Center, the Department of Energy and United
Airlines, regarding the continuing situation at the Fukushima Nuclear Reactor. In addition, we have confirmed with United
contingency plans to insure the safety and well being of Flight Attendants in
the area.
Dosimeters have been deployed to Local
Councils for Flight Attendants to use on layovers in NRT. If you would like to review some guidelines with safety measures you may
use while travelling to Japan, please refer to the resources available in this section of our website.
Narita Council 38 President Rick Gonzalez
reports that they continue to receive support from our AFA sisters and brothers
in the U.S., as well as support from Continental and Delta crews. Relief supplies are available in the domicile
for Narita based Flight Attendants. If
you or your families need relief supplies, please stop by or contact Council 38.
We encourage our Members to please contribute
to the AFA Disaster Relief Fund. 100% of the funds contributed go directly to impacted Flight
Attendants in the form of cash assistance. As always, our thoughts and
best wishes are with all of our Members and their families who have been
affected by this natural disaster.
Please continue to support each other as we navigate this difficult
time.
