Alaska Airlines has come to a tentative deal with its pilots on a new contract, capping a contentious three-year negotiation, the airline and its pilot union said Friday.

The agreement, which will be sent to pilots for a vote, includes significant pay raises of up to 23%, depending on how many years pilots have worked at the airline, with the new top rate hitting $306 per hour for captains.

The tentative agreement also includes provisions aimed at addressing pilots' complaints about reassignments and unreliable schedules, the union said.

Several other airlines have been struggling to reach contract deals with pilots unions this year. Alaska's pilots had previously voted to authorize a strike if a deal could not be reached.
