The Phoenix Chapter of United Airlines Clipped Wings extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the crews on UAL Flight 175 and UAL Flight 93. As current and former United flight attendants, we realize how truly courageous those crews were in their final hours on September 11, 2001. They will forever remain in our hearts and prayers.

Sandi Peattie (LAXSW) - Chapter President

"This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth.  All things are connected like blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it.  Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."

To the family of Kathryn Laborie,
When I started flying with United I was scared to fly the First Flight Attendant position for the first 3 months. Every time when I was scheduled to fly that position I begged my flying partners to do it for me. Until I met Kathryn. During the briefing before a transcontinental flight to SFO she talked me into jumping into the cold water and just doing it.
She said that she would work with me in First Class on the B-757 and promised to help me. "This is an easy flight to do it, because the flight time is so long", she said. "Don't worry, I'll help you."
She didn't know what she was getting herself into, though, because I had never worked the First Class galley before, and therefore the service took so long that our flying partners in the Economy Cabin had to come and help us. We were both exhausted, and she was a little bit exasperated with me. She said: "You were just lucky that the guys in the back helped us".
After this flight I felt so bad that I wrote a huge "First Flight Attendant To do" list during my layover, and showed her the list the next day.
She just started laughing, and said: "You won't have time to look at this list during our service. Don't worry, it will all come together eventually. The more often you do it the sooner you know what to do."
After this trip I saw her at the domicile quite often, and she always asked me how I was doing, and about my experiences as First Flight Attendant. She was a very sweet lady, and I will never forget this flight with her. (Every other Flight Attendant would have probably strangled me after making her work so hard!). She will always have a special place in my heart.

It is amazing what one cowardly act of terrorism can do to each and every one of us as flight attendants.  It has changed my life forever.  These cowards have taken away a sense of freedom that we had in choosing to do a job that we love.  The crews that we lost were just like us, they got up that morning, put their uniforms on, kissed their spouses and kids goodbye, went to briefing, boarded the plane and now they're gone.  I can't get their faces out of my mind, I keep replaying our jumpseat conversations of the ones that I knew well.  None of them will ever be forgotten.  We miss them terribly and we pray for their families.

I know how difficult this time could be for the families who have lost their loved ones. But we also not to forget that God is there with us no matter what circumstances we're all in. Let us not just remember Him in times of trouble but in everyday of our lives. Give thanks and praise. Remember that this tragedy is not from HIM but from evil. He'll never leave nor forsake us....He said, "Come to me all you who are weary & carrying heavy loads, for my burden is light....,I will give you rest." He also said, "Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's." If God is for us, who can be against us(Romans 8:31). For greater is He(God) that lives in me, than he that is in the world(1John 4:4). The Lord is with me, I will not be afraid. What can a man do to me(Psalm 118:6). May God bless each and everyone....Be strong and faithful....

My name is Patrick Hirang and I'm a former United Airlines employee in Seattle.  I worked at reservations for a short time from March to July, 1999.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the loss of Amy Jarret.  When I worked at Seattle reservations I had the pleasure of meeting Amy via phone and booking space for her.  Just by communicating with her she was indeed a wonderful and caring person.  I was just indeed heartbroken by the news of the loss and to everyone else who was on those planes.

Again I would like to express my sincere condolences for the loss of Amy Jarret and to everyone who loss their lives. God bless everyone at United.

We will never forget you

-- an ORD F/A

I am so proud of everything you stood for.  I am proud to wear the same wings you wore.  I returned to work today thinking of you, all of you.  I tried not to cry while the passengers were boarding, but felt hot tears; I tried to smile at them, and our passengers smiled back; tried not to let fear taint my thoughts, and I let the routine of our profession carry me through the day.  We have a difficult journey before us, so many pieces of this puzzle to try and put together again in any kind of semblance of order...  fear, war, prejudice, mourning, economics, hope...  it has been 2 weeks since and it feels like forever.  I look at your smiling faces on the website, and I pray you are at peace, I pray your families and friends will gather strength knowing you are remembered and loved as absolute heroes, and I pray we all will make it thru tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow... It is hard not to feel utterly alone right now, and I am devastated for all of you.  I hope this craziness ends soon, and until it does, fly safe, kiss your children, hug your family, and gather strength from each other, airline brothers and sisters.  May God bless us and watch over us all,

To All the Family and Friends at American and United:
A Native American Blessing

May the Great Spirit send his choicest gifts to you,

May the Sun Father and the Moon Mother shed their softest beams on you,

May the Four Winds of the World blow gently upon you and

Upon those with whom you share your heart and home.

-- Coahuila blessing

As a former flight attendant for UAL I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family members of all the members of the crew that were killed during the tragic events on 9/11.  Flight Attendants work so hard, usually with little recognition from the company.  They maintain a level of professionalism under all circumstances that are thrown their direction daily.  There really is nothing that could have prepared these hard working people to be able to handle what was thrown at them on that dreadful day.  I am positive that each one of them attempted to do all that they could to try to control the situation.  They are all angels flying free in heaven now, they have no more pain.  God bless each and every one of them and their loved ones.
