The City of Tempe and Tempe Exchange hosted a memorial tribute to our September 11th heroes with a a touching walk through the flags and attend the annual program of speakers, memorial service and a candlelight vigil.
The city coordinated the event with AFA US Airways-West Council 66. Flight Attendants and pilots were honored as first responders at the ceremony on the evening of September 11th. A Healing Field was in place at Tempe Town Lake Park throughout the weekend, from the evening of September 10th through the morning of September 13th. The Healing Field welcomed all visitors for remembrance and quiet reflection on the events that changed our career and our world forever, the events that defied the intensions of those who wished to inflict harm but instead encouraged the incredible human spirit of compassion, love and heroism. A flyover took place at 5:45 am on September 11th, the same time the first flight struck the Twin Towers. That evening, a ceremony honored our heroes on the main stage in Tempe Town Lake Park.
