On September 11, 2010 a service was held aboard the flight deck of the USS Midway in San Diego's Navy Pier. This service was held to remember those lost on September 11, 2001. Names of the United & American Airlines crewmembers lost on 9/11, along with Fire, Police, and Port Authority personnel lost were read at the annual memorial tribute aboard the USS Midway at the San Diego Navy Pier.
This annual memorial tribute is hosted by the FDNY Retirees of California with AFA-CWA participation, and includes Presentation of the Colors, Pipes & Drums, Honor Guards from the San Diego FD, Helicopter Flyover, 21 Gun Salute, Orange County FD, US Marine Corps, US Border Patrol, the Singing of the Star Spangled Banner, Taps and the reading of the names. Vicki Jurgens, MEC Safety, Health and Security Chairperson, coordinated our involvement in
the event.
